Cancer Care Center of York County

Maine Medical Center, Southern Maine Medical Center and Goodall Hospital partnered to create the new Cancer Care Center of York County. This standalone facility provides state‐of‐the‐art medical oncology and radiation oncology services in a relaxed environment taking cues from the local vernacular, to provide familiar comfort to patients. Throughout the facility, spaces are arranged with abundant natural daylight to reduce lighting energy usage, and natural wood with biophilic finishes to reduce embodied carbon footprint. Deep eaves and strategically sited deciduous plantings provide seasonal solar shading for reduced summer heat gain. Design features such as a fireplace, vaulted ceilings and healing gardens promote healing through psychological well-being.
